Fall Wedding at Kurtz Orchards, Niagara-on-the-Lake

Kurtz Orchard, in Niagara-on-the-Lake, encompasses Gracewood Estates, Kurtz Estate, and Kurtz Marketplace. The grounds provide a luxurious backdrop for anyone’s wedding day! I had the honor of documenting Jackie & Andrew’s wedding day in October.

Jackie and Andrew, a laid-back duo with a love for both adventure and cozy nights in, envisioned their wedding day as a blend of candid shots and authentic moments. While they recognized the importance of posed formal images, it was important for them to dive into the day with a relaxed approach. The day was filled with genuine moments, culinary delights, and an easygoing atmosphere that perfectly reflected the couple's adoration for life's simple pleasures. The entire property at Kurtz Orchard was used – including Gracewood and the Marketplace.

As their photographer my goal was to seamlessly blend into the festivities. The day started with capturing the bride’s getting-ready moments at a nearby venue. It followed with the groom on-site. Both sides had lots of family and friends taking part in the morning.

Rain poured the entire day, leading up to all the planned events. We were all so lucky when it stopped 1 hour prior to the first look. On the property, nestled into the corner is an area of tons of pine trees. The privacy added an extra layer of romance to the first look, providing an intimate moment for the couple before the ceremony.

The ceremony, set against the warm fall backdrop, was filled with love. The couple was surrounded by their closest friends and family and said their I-dos under vibrant fall leaves. Bridesmaids wore a beautiful shade of dessert/rusty rose with the groomsmen in navy – both beautiful tones against the fall leaves.

Following the heartfelt vows, the celebration continued with cocktails at Kurtz Marketplace. The newlyweds enjoyed a cocktail hour, had some portraits taken, and closed with a leisurely, private, stroll through the orchard before heading to their reception for dinner.

 The reception took place in a tented space on the Estate. The tent was filled to the brim with moody florals, candles, and long barn-style tables. The wedding décor was exquisite and meticulously designed. Each guest was given a take-home jam from the orchard. It was so romantic; I could have spent 3 hours just photographing the space. Appetizers were served family-style on charcuterie boards as speeches kicked off.

As night fell, the couple enjoyed a private cake-cutting moment, and guests were invited back to Kurtz Marketplace to kick off the dance floor. The space has beam cathedral ceilings with warm wood décor. The Marketplace was illuminated by Multicolour foam glow sticks, that the wedding party handed to the guests. It was literally the perfect addition to the dance floor – 10/10 would recommend. A live band, open fires, snacks, and drinks elevated the celebratory atmosphere.

 Jackie and Andrew's fall wedding at Kurtz Orchards was a beautiful celebration filled with love, genuine moments, and delightful details. The thoughtfully designed décor, colour choices and careful planning added to the overall charm of the event, making it a day to remember for everyone involved!
